Learn about Symbian Signed
The Complete Guide To Symbian Signed on the Symbian Signed website tells all about the Symbian Signed process.
For more details about manufacturer capabilities, please see Forum Nokia’s presentation on Symbian Signed: Accessing Manufacturer Capabilities.
Access a Nokia device for development or testing
Nokia offers two services for remote device access. These services enable you to access Nokia devices over the Internet. Read more about the services »
Test my Java™ ME application
If you want to test Java™ ME applications in commercial testing and signing programmes, learn about the Java Verified™ Program. If you’re looking for criteria to use on your own, the Java Verified criteria document offers good starting points for application testing. Forum Nokia’s Testing Documents section contains a number of test cases that also can be helpful.
Test my Symbian OS application
For native Symbian applications, explore Symbian Signed. If you’re looking for criteria to use on your own, the Symbian Signed criteria document offers good starting points for application testing. Forum Nokia’s Testing Documents section contains a Nokia Criteria for the Symbian C++ applications which contains a number of essential test cases for applications targeted to Nokia devices. For native Symbian application development, it’s possible to use unit tests.
Sign my application
If you have a Java ME application, you’ll use the Java Verified™ Program. If your application is delivered in a SIS file, then Symbian Signed is the programme for you. If you want to sign a SIS file on your own, check out Forum Nokia’s Testing and Signing Developer’s Library.
Get my application Symbian Signed
To learn how Symbian’s Symbian Signed programme works, check out The Complete Guide to Symbian Signed, published by Symbian.
Get my application Java Verified™
The Java Verified™ Program is Sun’s application testing and signing programme for Java™ ME applications. To learn how it works, check out the Java Verified website.
Learn which capabilities my application requires
Two tools, available in the free-of-charge Carbide.c++ Express v1.3, can help. The Capability Scanner goes through the project code and determines which capabilities the code needs. The Epocwind.out Scanner enables you to view the capability-requirement messages when the application has been run in the SDK emulator. For more information, please refer to Carbide.c++ help.
Understand Symbian platform security
Forum Nokia offers several resources to help you get up to speed. The Symbian OS Platform Security section provides a detailed explanation, and the Wiki and the Testing and Signing Developer’s Library give even more information.
Obtain manufacturer capabilities for my application
See Forum Nokia’s presentation on Symbian Signed: Accessing Manufacturer Capabilities to learn how to obtain AllFiles, DRM, or TCB for your application.
